Chambeshi Backs Konkola Blades to Challenge for Silverware in Coming Seasons

Coach Pleased With Top-Half Finish After Successful Return to the Super League

Konkola Blades head coach Beston Chambeshi believes the Chililabombwe-based side is on the right path to becoming a trophy-contending team after a solid campaign in the MTN Super League.

The Sharp Razor concluded the 2025/26 season in ninth position with 48 points, an impressive achievement for a team that had only recently secured promotion from the National League.

Satisfied With the Team’s Progress

Reflecting on the season, Chambeshi expressed satisfaction with what the club managed to accomplish during its first campaign back in the top flight.

The former Chipolopolo coach said the primary objective was to establish the team in the Super League while building a foundation for future success.

“I am pleased with the progress we have made as a team. We had a clear plan when we were in the National League, and one of our goals was to earn promotion and compete well in the Super League,” Chambeshi said.

“Considering where we came from, finishing in the top half of the table is something we can be proud of.”

Players and Supporters Earn Praise

Chambeshi credited the club’s achievements to the commitment shown by the players, supporters, and management throughout the season.

He believes the unity around the team played a key role in helping Konkola Blades remain competitive against more established Super League sides.

“The players worked extremely hard throughout the season and deserve recognition for their efforts,” he said.

“Our supporters and club executives have also been very supportive, and that encouragement has helped drive the team forward.”

Eyes Set on Future Success

While pleased with the progress made so far, Chambeshi believes the club’s ambitions should now shift towards competing for honours.

The coach hinted that if the current project continues on its upward trajectory, Konkola Blades could soon emerge as serious contenders in domestic competitions.

“The signs are encouraging. The players understand the system we are building and they are playing with confidence,” he said.

“If we continue developing in this manner, I believe the team will soon be in a position to challenge for trophies.”

Building a Winning Culture

Chambeshi emphasized that success will require patience and consistency, but he is confident the groundwork has already been laid.

With a successful return season behind them, Konkola Blades will now look to strengthen the squad and build on their ninth-place finish as they prepare for the 2026/27 campaign.

The former national team coach remains optimistic that bigger achievements lie ahead for the Sharp Razor in the near future.
