Nico United Boss Says Recognition Reflects His Growth and Experience in Coaching
Zambian football coach Reuben Njavera has expressed gratitude after being nominated for the Coach of the Year award in Botswana for the second consecutive season.
Njavera, who is currently in charge of Nico United, described the recognition as a major honour and an encouraging sign of growth in his coaching career.
“I Am Truly Humbled” – Njavera
Speaking in an exclusive interview, the Zambian tactician said he feels encouraged to receive recognition outside his home country.
“I am humbled to be named among the nominees for Coach of the Season,” Njavera said.
“This is now the second straight year that I have been recognised among the top coaches, and it shows that I am continuing to grow in experience and knowledge within the coaching profession.”
Coaching Journey Spanning Over Two Decades
Njavera’s coaching career dates back to 2002 when he began working with Lusaka Celtics.
During his time at the club, he guided the team to promotion to the Premier League in 2003 and repeated the achievement in 2005 following a brief relegation period.
Over the years, he also served in assistant coaching roles at several Zambian clubs including Kansanshi Dynamos, NAPSA Stars and Young Green Eagles.
Successful Move to Botswana
Njavera relocated to Botswana in 2023 in search of new coaching opportunities.
He initially joined Holy Ghost before later taking charge of VTM and eventually moving to Nico United.
His impact in Botswana football has continued to grow, earning him praise for his work and consistency on the touchline.
Recognition for Zambian Coaching Talent
Njavera’s latest nomination is also seen as another positive moment for Zambian coaches working abroad, highlighting the growing reputation of local football expertise across the region.
The experienced coach remains hopeful of continuing his development while helping raise the standards of the teams he manages.
