Power Dynamos Lead the Way at MTN Super League Awards Ceremony
Champions Sweep Major Honors as Football Stakeholders Celebrate Successful Season
Fresh from securing the 2025/26 MTN Super League title, Power Dynamos capped off an outstanding campaign by collecting several top accolades at the league’s annual awards ceremony held in Kitwe.
The champions were among the biggest winners of the night, with players and technical staff receiving recognition for their contributions to a memorable season.
Mutapa Crowned Coach of the Season
Power Dynamos head coach Osward Mutapa was named Coach of the Season after guiding the club to a successful title defence.
Under his leadership, the Kitwe-based side maintained impressive consistency throughout the campaign, finishing at the summit of the league standings.
Shumah Claims Double Award Success
Star striker Moses Shumah enjoyed a remarkable evening after collecting both the Golden Boot Award and the Fans’ Player of the Season accolade.
The forward finished the season with 21 league goals, becoming the first player in a decade to surpass the 20-goal mark in Zambia’s top flight.
Individual Excellence Recognized
The prestigious Player of the Season award went to Albert Kangwanda of Red Arrows following a series of standout performances during the season.
Meanwhile, Mangani Banda of Kabwe Warriors was honored with the Golden Glove Award after an impressive campaign between the posts.
Power Dynamos midfielder Fredrick Mulambia received the Most Disciplined Player of the Season award, while promising youngster Given Kalusa of FC MUZA was named Young Player of the Season.
Government Reaffirms Support for Football
Speaking during the ceremony, Kangwa Chileshe congratulated Power Dynamos on their title-winning campaign and praised Shumah’s impressive scoring achievement.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to improving sports infrastructure, expanding talent development programs, and encouraging greater private-sector involvement in football.
Chileshe also highlighted the importance of professionalism, accountability, and good governance in sports administration.
FAZ President Praises Progress
Keith Mweemba urged players to remain focused and disciplined as they continue pursuing success in their careers.
He thanked MTN Zambia for its long-standing partnership with football in Zambia and acknowledged the support of TopStar and government in advancing the sport.
Mweemba also welcomed the return of prolific goalscoring in the league, describing Shumah’s achievement as a positive sign for the future of Zambian football.
Exciting Season Receives Praise
Zambia Premier League Chief Executive Officer Joseph Chimpampwe described the 2025/26 season as one of the most competitive and entertaining campaigns in recent memory.
He revealed plans to strengthen fan engagement initiatives and continue working alongside clubs to improve stadium facilities ahead of the next season.
MTN Reaffirms Commitment
MTN Zambia Acting Chief Commercial Officer Aaron Simumba reiterated the company’s commitment to supporting football development and investing in initiatives aimed at nurturing young talent across the country.
Match Officials and Media Honored
The awards ceremony also recognized outstanding contributions from match officials and members of the media.
Charles Ng’andwe was named Referee of the Season, while Chansa Kunda received the Television Journalist of the Season award.
In the supporters’ category, Power Dynamos fan Kennedy Chishala, popularly known as “YellowMan,” was crowned Fan of the Season.
The event brought together key football stakeholders to celebrate another successful chapter in Zambian football while looking ahead to an even more competitive season in 2026/27.
