Copper Queens to Play All WAFCON Group Matches in Rabat
Zambia women’s national football team will play all their group stage matches of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Rabat, Morocco, after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed the full tournament schedule.
The Copper Queens, coached by Nora Häuptle, will begin their campaign on 28 July 2026 against Egypt at the Rabat Olympic Stadium as they aim to progress deep into the competition and secure qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The tournament will officially kick off on 26 July, with opening Group A fixtures seeing Algeria face Senegal before hosts Morocco take on Kenya later that evening in Rabat.
Zambia’s second group match will see them face defending champions and African heavyweights Nigeria on 1 August at Al Madina Stadium in a key clash that could shape the group standings.
Their final Group C fixture is scheduled for 5 August against Malawi, also at Al Madina Stadium, completing a demanding schedule that will test the Copper Queens’ depth and consistency.
CAF has confirmed that the top four teams in each group will advance to the quarter-finals, which are set for 8 and 9 August. The four semi-finalists will automatically qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, while the remaining quarter-finalists will still have a chance to reach the global tournament through play-offs.
With all group games now confirmed in Rabat, Zambia will look to settle quickly in familiar conditions as they chase another strong continental run under Häuptle’s leadership.
