England, Argentina Book World Cup Semi-final Clash

England and Argentina have secured their places in the semi-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and will face each other for a place in the final, where either France or Spain awaits.

England came from behind to defeat Norway 2-1, with Jude Bellingham producing another match-winning display.

Norway took the lead through Andreas Schjelderup, but the Three Lions responded strongly as Bellingham netted twice to complete the comeback and send England into the last four.

The victory marks England’s fourth FIFA World Cup semi-final appearance and their first since the 2018 tournament. They now remain on course to challenge for a second world title, having last lifted the trophy in 1966.

Defending champions Argentina also booked their place in the semi-finals after overcoming Switzerland 3-1 after extra time.

Alexis Mac Allister gave La Albiceleste an early advantage in the 10th minute before Dan Ndoye equalised midway through the second half to force the contest into extra time.

Switzerland’s task became more difficult after being reduced to 10 men, and Argentina eventually made their numerical advantage count. Julián Álvarez restored the South Americans’ lead in the 112th minute before substitute Lautaro Martínez wrapped up the victory with a goal deep into stoppage time.

The first semi-final will see France take on Spain on 14 July, while England and Argentina will meet a day later in a mouthwatering encounter for the remaining place in the final.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup final is scheduled to take place on 19 July at New Jersey Stadium in the New York metropolitan area.
