Kangwanda Backed Red Arrows to Make CAF Confederation Cup Impact

Red Arrows forward Albert Kangwanda believes belief, discipline, and teamwork could be the key ingredients for the Airmen to enjoy a strong run in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
The striker played a central role in Red Arrows’ impressive 2025 campaign, helping the club secure a second-place finish in the MTN Super League while also lifting the ABSA Cup.
Standout Season for Kangwanda
Kangwanda enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career, finishing with an impressive return of 17 goals and eight assists across all competitions.
The former Kafue Celtics forward consistently delivered in key moments, establishing himself as one of the most influential attackers in the league during Arrows’ strong domestic run.
His performances were vital as the Airmen balanced league competition with cup success.
Reflecting on a Successful Campaign
Speaking after the season, Kangwanda described the year as largely positive, pointing to the club’s achievements while also acknowledging the disappointment of narrowly missing out on the league title.
“It was an amazing season. We set targets and managed to achieve some of them,” he said.
“We only failed to win the league, but we won the ABSA Cup and qualified for African football.”
He added that the focus now shifts toward preparing for both domestic and continental competition in the upcoming campaign.
Confidence Ahead of CAF Competition
Looking ahead to Red Arrows’ CAF Confederation Cup challenge, Kangwanda expressed confidence that the team has what it takes to compete effectively on the continental stage.
He stressed that success will depend largely on collective belief and unity within the squad.
“It’s just belief and hard work as a team,” he said.
The forward also noted that football is fundamentally the same wherever it is played, regardless of opposition or region.
“Whether you are playing a team from East Africa or Southern Africa, the rules are the same. If you are better, you win,” he added.
Changing the Continental Narrative
Zambian clubs have historically found it difficult to make deep runs in CAF competitions, but Red Arrows will be aiming to challenge that trend when they enter the Confederation Cup.
With momentum from a strong domestic season and players like Kangwanda in fine form, the Airmen will be hoping to translate their confidence into results on the continental stage.
