Ng’ambi Calls on Football Administrators to Respect Players and Honour Contracts
FC MUZA striker Rickson Ng’ambi has called on football administrators to prioritise players’ welfare by honouring contracts and paying salaries on time, warning that poor leadership can destroy careers and livelihoods.
In a heartfelt message shared on his Facebook page, Ng’ambi reflected on the short lifespan of a footballer’s career, saying players have only a limited number of years to earn a living and should not be denied what they have worked for.
“Football is a short career. We don’t get 40 years like in an office job. We get 10, maybe 15 years if God is kind and our bodies hold up. Every season is a chance, every month is a paycheck, and every game could be the one that changes our lives,” Ng’ambi wrote.
The FC MUZA forward criticised some football administrators for delaying salaries and putting personal interests ahead of the welfare of players.
“They delay salaries, they play politics, and they make decisions for themselves and not for the team. They don’t see the sleepless nights, the injuries, the sacrifices we make just to wear the badge. By the time they are done, our legs are tired, our window is closed, and the years we can never get back are gone,” he said.
Ng’ambi stressed that poor leadership has consequences that extend far beyond football, affecting players’ families and futures.
“Football does not wait for anyone. That’s why leadership matters. Because when leaders are selfish, they don’t just ruin a season—they ruin lives,” he stated.
The striker appealed to club officials to lead with integrity, compassion and accountability by respecting players and fulfilling their contractual obligations.
“Lead with heart, not greed. Remember we are not just players to use and throw away. We are fathers, sons, and brothers. The decisions you make today will follow you. Pay what is owed. Respect the people who give everything for the badge,” Ng’ambi said.
