Kanyemba Urges Copper Princesses to Stay Focused Ahead of DR Congo Clash

Zambia Coach Reminds Players Qualification Race Is Far From Over

Zambia Under-17 Women’s National Team head coach Carol Kanyemba has called on her players to remain fully focused despite taking a commanding advantage into the second leg of their FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifying tie against DR Congo.

The Copper Princesses produced an impressive performance in the first meeting, securing a convincing 5-0 victory to put themselves in a strong position ahead of the return fixture.

However, Kanyemba believes the team cannot afford to become complacent and has reminded her squad that the qualification battle is not yet finished.

“There Are Still 90 Minutes to Play”

The Zambia coach stressed that the second leg remains equally important, regardless of the scoreline from the opening match.

According to Kanyemba, her players must approach the return encounter with the same level of determination, discipline and concentration that helped them secure the first-leg victory.

She emphasized that football can be unpredictable and that maintaining focus throughout the tie will be crucial if Zambia is to progress to the next stage.

Technical Team Continuing Preparations

Kanyemba revealed that preparations for the trip to DR Congo have involved more than just work on the training pitch.

She explained that the technical bench has continued to guide and support the players both physically and mentally to ensure they are ready for the challenge ahead.

The coach believes strong mental preparation will be just as important as tactical readiness when the team takes to the field for the decisive second leg.

World Cup Qualification a Major Target

The Copper Princesses are aiming to move one step closer to another appearance at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, and Kanyemba admitted that achieving qualification would be a special milestone in her coaching career.

She expressed confidence in the squad’s ability to complete the job and secure progression while continuing Zambia’s strong record in women’s youth football.

Eyes on the Global Stage

With a place at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup firmly within reach, the Copper Princesses know they must remain professional and focused as they prepare for the return fixture.

Kanyemba believes the team has the quality and character required to finish the task in DR Congo and continue their journey towards representing Zambia on the world stage.
