Burundi Midfielder Aaron Musore Sends Strong Warning Ahead of Zambia AFCON Qualifiers

Green Eagles Star Says Burundi Will Target Victories Against Chipolopolo in 2027 AFCON Campaign
Aaron Musore has warned that Burundi national football team will be fighting for maximum points when they face Zambia national football team in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Green Eagles midfielder believes Burundi has enough determination to challenge strongly in a difficult qualifying group that also includes Algeria and Togo.
Musore Proud to Represent Burundi
Musore recently featured for Burundi during their international friendly against Morocco national football team in Rabat, where the East African nation suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat.
Despite the result, the midfielder said representing his country at senior level remains a proud achievement.
“I’m very happy to be part of the national team because every footballer dreams of representing their country,” Musore said.
Burundi Preparing for Tough AFCON Campaign
Burundi will continue preparations with another friendly match against Equatorial Guinea national football team scheduled for June 4 in Marrakech.
The team’s focus is already shifting toward the AFCON qualifiers, which are expected to begin in September.
Burundi has been drawn alongside World Cup-bound Algeria national football team, Zambia, and Togo national football team in what many consider a competitive group.
“We Go to Win”
Musore acknowledged Zambia’s quality but insisted Burundi would not enter the matches simply to compete.
“Zambia is a very good team with talented players, so it will definitely be a strong contest,” he said.
“I will personally be happy to see my country play against Zambia.”
However, the midfielder made it clear that Burundi’s ambition will be to secure positive results both home and away.
“These matches will not be easy, but when you go to war, you go there to win and not to lose,” Musore added.
Focus on Qualification
The two nations are scheduled to meet on October 11, 2026, before Burundi hosts the return fixture four days later.
Musore, who has spent the last four seasons at Green Eagles after joining from Musongati FC, also believes his club enjoyed a respectable campaign in Zambia.
The midfielder now hopes Burundi can carry strong momentum into the AFCON qualifying race as teams battle for places at the 2027 tournament to be hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
