Bwalya Targets Stronger Season After Green Buffaloes’ Disappointing Finish

Defender Believes Buffaloes Left Valuable Points On The Table

Green Buffaloes defender Lucky Bwalya has admitted that the club did not achieve its objectives during the 2025/26 Zambian Premier League season, insisting the team was capable of finishing much higher on the table.

The Zambia Army-sponsored side ended the campaign in 12th position after collecting 41 points from 34 matches, a result many within the club believe fell short of expectations.

Missed Opportunities Cost Buffaloes

Looking back on the season, Bwalya pointed to the team’s inability to protect winning positions as one of the major reasons behind their disappointing finish.

The defender believes Buffaloes dropped crucial points in matches they should have won, turning potential victories into frustrating draws.

According to Bwalya, better game management could have significantly improved the club’s standing by the end of the campaign.

Expectations Were Much Higher

Despite the challenges faced throughout the season, Bwalya remains convinced that Green Buffaloes possessed enough quality to compete closer to the top half of the table.

He described the club as one of the country’s established teams and believes the final league position did not accurately reflect the talent available within the squad.

The defender stressed that a club of Buffaloes’ stature should consistently aim for stronger league performances.

Personal Progress Provides Encouragement

While disappointed with the team’s overall campaign, Bwalya found positives in his own performances.

The defender was pleased with his creative contribution during the season, particularly his ability to provide assists and support attacking moves from the back.

His performances demonstrated his growing influence within the team and highlighted his importance in both defensive and offensive situations.

Bigger Ambitions For Next Season

With preparations already turning towards the upcoming campaign, Bwalya has set ambitious targets for himself.

In addition to creating opportunities for teammates, he wants to increase his direct impact in front of goal by adding more goals to his game.

The defender believes improving his attacking output will help him become a more complete player while also contributing to the team’s success.

Focus On Returning Buffaloes To Higher Levels

Above all, Bwalya says his primary objective remains helping Green Buffaloes regain their status as one of the league’s strongest teams.

He is confident that with the right mentality, improved consistency and better management of matches, Buffaloes can challenge for a significantly higher finish next season.

As the club begins preparations for a fresh campaign, Bwalya hopes both his personal ambitions and the team’s objectives can combine to produce a much stronger season in 2026/27.
