Goalkeeper Assane Sarr Shines as Young Lions of Teranga Book Final Clash Against Tanzania

Senegal national under-17 football team secured a place in the final of the CAF Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations after defeating hosts Morocco national under-17 football team 7-6 on penalties following a dramatic 1-1 draw on Thursday night in Rabat.

The thrilling semi-final encounter took place at Prince Moulay Hassan Stadium, where goalkeeper Assane Sarr emerged as the hero for Senegal with several important saves during the penalty shootout.

Sarr Becomes Senegal’s Hero

The Young Lions of Teranga kept their composure during the tense shootout to silence the home supporters and end Morocco’s hopes of winning the tournament on home soil.

Sarr produced a standout performance in goal as Senegal successfully converted their penalties to book a place in the final.

Morocco Force Late Drama

Morocco appeared to be heading out of the competition before Ismail El Aoud rescued the hosts deep into stoppage time.

The forward reacted quickest after his initial penalty was saved, scoring from the rebound to level the match and force penalties.

The dramatic equaliser reignited hopes among the home fans, but Senegal ultimately held their nerve from the spot.

Tanzania Await in Final

Senegal will now face Tanzania national under-17 football team in the tournament final.

Tanzania also advanced after defeating Egypt national under-17 football team on penalties in the other semi-final played earlier on Thursday.

The final is scheduled for Tuesday, while Morocco and Egypt will battle for third place on Monday.
